Local Femme Osage History

German immigrants settled the village of Femme Osage in the 1830s. The beautiful rolling hills of Missouri Wine Country reminded them of their rich and fertile fatherland.

Today, this area is still filled with wonderful original churches and cemeteries.

Anyone interested in finding their German roots, this area is truely a great place to visit. There are numerous historical societies open to those who wish to trace their ancestry.

Many of the surrounding towns, such as Augusta, Dutzow, Washington, and Hermann, were also some of the first areas settled by the hardy German pioneers.
